⚠️ Metadata Consistency
All mandatory fields must be filled: track titles, composers, label, etc.
- Genre and language fields are selected from controlled lists.
Track Duplicate in a Release
Two tracks with identical metadata are not allowed in one release.
Metadata Language
- Track title language must match the entered language metadata.
- Letter casing must align with the rules of that language.
Lyrics Language
- Set the correct audio language.
- Instrumental content must be marked as such.
- Some Indian lyrics should use English as the Original Metadata Language.
Original Release Dates
- Use the actual original digital or physical release date, regardless of version or region.
Explicit Content
- Tracks with explicit lyrics or content must have Parental Advisory as Yes.
- Only language determines "Explicit" (not artwork).
- Clean versions must be tagged Clean.
- Do not include “(Clean)” or “(Explicit)” in the title. Use metadata tags only.
- Do not censor words manually (e.g., inserting asterisks).
🅰️ Artist’s Name Formatting and Spelling
- Use full, correctly spelled artist names.
Use the official artist name from social media or reliable sources (Wikipedia, Discogs, etc.).
Do Not:
- Include artist names in track or album titles (e.g., “Artist – Track” is not accepted).
Types of Artist Names
- Personal Names: Use native name order based on language (e.g., First Last for English).
- Stage Names / Pseudonyms: Follow the artist’s chosen format.
- Bands / Collectives: List only the group name, not individual members.
🤝 Artist Roles
Presenting Artists
- If the presenting artist performs, they can be listed as a main artist.
- If not performing, list them in the version title only, not in the artist field.
Featuring Artists
- Must be added as an Artist and then explain in Additional Details field.
Authors and Composers
- Use full legal names or registered pseudonyms.
- Separate names with commas.
- Adaptors/translators should only be listed if they modified content.
- Each track must have:
- At least one Composer
- At least one Author if lyrics are present
- "Instrumental" set as lyrics language if no lyrics
- Do not use placeholders like "DR", "RR", or "Rights reserved".
- Can use “Traditional” or “Anonymous” for folk songs if needed.
🗃️ Artist Field Rules
Generic or Fake Artists
- Not accepted on many stores.
- Examples of generic names: White Noise, Baby, Yoga, Meditation, etc.
- Such releases are subject to immediate takedown.
Multiple Artists Formatting
- For 2–3 main artists: list them all, separated by commas.
- For albums which have 4+ artists it will be submitted as “Various Artists”.
Exception: On one-track singles, you can list all artists at album level even if there are 5+.
Compound Artists
- Groups commonly credited together (e.g., "Simon & Garfunkel") may be entered as one artist.
- Use
& or another conjunction, but treat them as one artist.
Using “Meets” or “vs.”
- Artists must be listed separately (comma-separated).
- “Meets” or “vs.” should appear only in the title, not in artist fields.
🚥 Artist ID
- A store-specific identifier (numbers/letters) for artists.
- Assigned once a release is delivered.
- Add Artist IDs for main and featured artists to ensure proper catalog mapping.
- If no ID is provided, a new profile may be created if no match is found.
